ABOUT

Farm Field Forage started by chance.

Anne was pulling out an invasive vine from a struggling hydrangea. Wrapping the vine around her arm to take to the compost pile, she thought, ”First, I’ll try making a wreath.”

As we removed more vine from trees and hedgerows, we began experimenting with different shapes, making new gardens, and growing everlasting plants and flowers. On foraging hikes and ski trips around the farm we discovered so many wild gifts - feathers, nuts, cones, berries - and we included the most beautiful and unusual in our designs.

Friends and family encouraged us to offer our uniquely wild designs for sale. We began vending at farmers markets and events, building and installing larger commissioned pieces, and then we were asked to provide flowers and garlands for a rustic Vermont wedding and finally …

Here we are today! Loving what we do, looking forward to whatever comes next, and working hard to help make sure our patrons feel that energy coming back to them.

Materials

  • The materials we use are seasonally, terrain, and weather dependent, so exact product replication isn’t possible. But if you see a picture of a finished piece you like we’ll do our best to come as close as we can.
  • Each piece is handcrafted using natural materials and variances will occur over time.

  • When we make wreaths, vines and branches that we’ve foraged are twisted and woven together from naturally occurring wild grapevine, Virginia Creeper, willow, forsythia and others.
  • Diameter measurements are closely approximate but may not include depth or breadth of decorative materials. Please let us know if you want something to fit within a particular space.

Use

  • Some materials are more suited for indoor use and some for outdoor. Describing how, when, and where you want to display your design -sending us pics is appreciated - helps us to suggest not only beautiful materials, but practical ones.
  • For maximum longevity, we recommend shielding most designs from direct sunlight, moisture, and wind.

Price

  • In addition to size and quantity, other factors that influence price include the use of rare and uncommon materials, and the time spent farming, foraging, designing, and building.

Shipping

  • Some pieces can be shipped to you for an additional charge. Very large, bulky or extremely delicate ones may need to be picked up at the farm.
